EXAMPLE OF VERBS:
• A verb expresses action or being.

Invisible Actions
She understands now.

I remember you.
Some verbs are called state-of-being verbs. They do not show or tell of an action. Instead, state-of-being verbs show that a person or thing exists. Forms of the verb be ,am, is, are, was, and were are state-of-being verbs. Information about a person or thing often follows these verbs in sentences.
I am cold. Ann was joyful. They are athletes.
Verbs such as appear, become, feel, grow, look, remain, seem, smell, sound, stay, taste, and turn can also express being. In a sentence any of these verbs can take the place of a form of the verb be.
